Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be welcomed?

YES! We welcome everyone here at Oakhurst, and we honor and value the unique way in which God has created and called you. Know that Oakhurst is a place where you will be welcomed and loved.

Can I take communion?

In the Presbyterian Church (USA), we have an open table. All are welcome to join us around Christ’s table. We have prepackaged communion elements, as well as gluten-free bread and grape juice, so you can participate in a way that feels most comfortable for you.

Where do I park?

Enter the parking lot off of East Lake across the street from the Dog Park. You can park in the lower lot and come up the stairs. There are spots for ADA and seniors in the upper parking lot making it more accessible for those with physical challenges.

Where do I get to the sanctuary on Sunday morning?  I have mobility issues, can I get around?

You have multiple options. You can walk directly to the front door of the Sanctuary and enter that way. You may also enter into the lower level and take the stairs up to the Sanctuary level.

If you have difficulties with stairs, park in the parking lot behind the church and follow the pathway under the white awning to the side door. You will be in the Jefferson Fellowship Hall, walk past the stage on your right and into the door on the right. You will see a Lift, hold the UP button until the Lift pauses. Wait 10 seconds, then press the button again, and the Lift will stop at the Sanctuary.

What does it mean that Oakhurst is a More Light congregation?

Oakhurst is a member of More Light Presbyterians, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the full participation of people who are LGBTQIA+ in the life, ministry, and witness of the PC(USA) and in the world.
