Lessons from Haiti: Haiti was the very first slave colony to successfully overthrow its colonizers and gain independence. Founded in 1804 and once called the “Jewel of the Caribbean,” Haiti has a complex history marked by extreme hardship and inspiring faith, hope, and tenacity. Rick and Harriet Barger invite you to an evening at OPC in Jefferson Hall to be challenged and inspired by the Haiti story and the grassroots movement of the Haitian Timoun Foundation. A simple Haitian meal will be provided.
